New DL-101 Course Cohort: Registration, Learning and Final Examination
Registration is now open for a new cohort of the Ukrainian-language DL-101 «General Course on Intellectual Property», available on the eLearning Center distance learning platform.
DL-101 is a foundational course offered by the World Intellectual Property Organization Academy (WIPO Academy), providing a comprehensive understanding of the intellectual property system in accordance with international standards.
Registration: 13 August – 14 September 2026 (inclusive)
Course period: 15 September – 15 November 2026
Final examination: 18–22 November 2026
Why Take This Course?
DL-101 is one of the most well-known foundational courses in the field of intellectual property and has been used for many years to provide fundamental knowledge of the international intellectual property system.
During the course, participants will learn about:
- key concepts in the field of intellectual property;
- copyright and related rights;
- trademarks, patents, industrial designs and geographical indications;
- the international system for the protection of intellectual property rights;
- current trends and other important aspects of intellectual property.
Important: The course focuses on the international intellectual property system and does not cover the specific features of Ukrainian national legislation.
Please also note that the next enrolment for the course is planned for September 2027 only.
Learning Format
The course is delivered entirely online.
All learning materials are provided exclusively in written format, allowing each participant to organize their learning independently and study the materials at their own pace and at any time throughout the course period.
Important: The course does not include video or audio materials.
Course Structure
The programme consists of 13 learning modules:
- Introduction to Intellectual Property
- Copyright
- Related Rights
- Trademarks
- Geographical Indications
- Industrial Designs
- Patents
- Unfair Competition
- International Registration Systems
- Protection of New Varieties of Plants
- Introduction to Traditional Knowledge, Traditional Cultural Expressions and Genetic Resources
- Intellectual Property and Development
- Discussion and Summary
At the end of each module, participants can take self-assessment tests. The results do not affect eligibility for the certificate, but help participants assess their understanding of the course material and prepare for the final examination.
Communication with Instructors and Participants
Each module includes a discussion forum, which is an important part of the learning process.
On the forum, participants can:
- ask questions about the learning materials;
- discuss course topics with other participants;
- share their own views and experiences.
Throughout the course, participants will be supported by instructors who have successfully completed the WIPO Academy Training of Trainers programme. They will moderate the forums, help participants better understand the course materials and answer questions regarding their content:

Final Examination
Upon completion of the course, participants take a final multiple-choice examination. Each question has four answer options, only one of which is correct.
The examination will be available from 18 to 22 November 2026. Participants may choose any convenient time to take the examination within this period.
Certificate
Participants who successfully pass the final examination (at least 50% correct answers) will receive a certificate of successful course completion issued by the World Intellectual Property Organization Academy (WIPO Academy) and UANIPIO.
The certificate will also indicate the course workload of 55 hours.
