The training course for enhancing knowledge and skills in intellectual property «IP Law: National Practice and European Approaches» has been developed by the «Intellectual Property Academy» Department of the State Organization «Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations» for representatives in intellectual property matters and other professionals working in the field of intellectual property.
The aim of the course is to provide participants with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills necessary for professional activity in the field of intellectual property, in particular regarding the acquisition, exercise, management, and protection of intellectual property rights, representation of right holders before UANIPIO, public authorities, and in relations with individuals and legal entities, taking into account European integration changes in Ukrainian legislation and the application of European approaches in practice.

Who is this course for?
The training course will be useful for:
- candidates for representatives in intellectual property matters (patent attorneys) who are preparing to carry out professional activities in the field of intellectual property rights protection;
- professionals who are already working in the field of intellectual property and seek to update and deepen their knowledge taking into account European integration changes in Ukrainian legislation;
- persons who have obtained legal education or education in intellectual property or related fields, have at least one year of practical experience in the field of intellectual property protection, and plan further professional development in this area.
What knowledge and skills will participants gain?
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- navigate national and international intellectual property protection systems (Ukraine, WIPO, EUIPO) and understand the mechanisms of their interaction;
- professionally and ethically perform the activities of a representative in intellectual property matters, taking into account legal status and standards of responsibility;
- apply copyright and related rights provisions in the context of harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with EU law, understanding the key directions of change;
- select and structure contractual models for the disposal of property rights and use modern licensing approaches (including EULA and public licenses);
- prepare documents for the state registration of copyright and relevant agreements, understand the practical consequences of registration, and avoid common mistakes;
- work with patent information and international classifications (IPC, Locarno Classification, Nice Classification, Vienna Classification), applying WIPO standards for data analysis and comparison;
- conduct patent research and basic patent searches, as well as support trademark protection in Ukraine taking into account European integration changes (filing, examination, grounds for refusal, oppositions).
